Ingredients

  1. 1 lbGround lamb
  2. 1medium Onion (finely chopped)
  3. 2medium Carrots (diced small)
  4. 2 clovesGarlic (minced)
  5. 1 cupFrozen peas
  6. 2 tbspTomato paste
  7. 2 tbspWorcestershire sauce
  8. 1 cupBeef broth
  9. 2 tbspOlive oil
  10. 2 lbsRusset or Yukon Gold potatoes
  11. 1/2 cupSour cream
  12. 1 tspSalt
  13. 1 tspPepper
  14. 1 cupSharp cheddar cheese (optional)

    Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

    Heat olive oil in skillet. Sauté onions and carrots until soft.

  3. 3

    Add lamb, cook until browned. Stir in garlic, cook 1 min.

  4. 4

    Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce. Cook 2 min.

  5. 5

    Pour in beef broth, simmer 5 min. Stir in peas, remove from heat.

  6. 6

    Peel and chop potatoes. Boil until tender, drain.

  7. 7

    Add sour cream, salt, pepper. Mash with hand mixer until smooth.

  8. 8

    Spread filling in baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes, smooth surface.

  9. 9

    Sprinkle cheddar cheese if using.

    Bake 25 min until golden and bubbling. Broil 2–3 min for crispier top.

Tips

Use a hand mixer for mashing the potatoes to achieve a smooth and creamy texture.
