Steam amla in a pressure cooker or a kadhai with a stand and steam plate for 10 minutes.

In another kadhai, add steamed amla and sugar.

Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, until amla turns soft and absorbs sugar syrup (about 10-15 minutes).Cook for another 5 minutes until syrup thickens.

Remove from heat, cool, and store.
