Ingredients

25 mins
1-serving
  1. 1 KiloFish (I used King )
  2. 1 1/2 CupsCoconutgratedcoco
  3. 1 PinchJeera
  4. 6 - 7GreenchilliesGreen
  5. 2Tomato
  6. 2 TablespoonsLemon Juice
  7. 2Ginger "
  8. 8Shallots
  9. To TasteSalt
  10. BunchCurry leaves
  11. 2 TablespoonsCoconut oil

Cooking Instructions

25 mins
  1. 1

Grind the coconut, shallots, ginger, turmeric, and chillies together into a coarse paste with some added water.

  2. 2

Add the cleaned fish, ground coconut paste, Tomato, Lemon Juice and salt to a wide pan and mix gently until combined. (You can substitute Tomato /Lemon Juice with Kudam puli - to retain the color I prefer tomato/Lemon juice) ** Mango is another great substitute -- and taste much better ****

  3. 3

Bring this mixture together with a spatula and press down firmly, keep flame on low and cook covered until the fish is cooked and soft - depending on the type of fish used, this will take anywhere between 15-20 mins.

  4. 4

When done, add the coconut oil and curry leaves, mix gently, and keep covered until ready to serve

I'm Shalan and I come from Kerala, God's own country. I am a software Engineer by profession now settled in U.S. “Cooking is at once child's play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love.” I'm a full time worker and mother of 2 boys. I always consider cooking as a passion or therapy to myself. I always like to try new things. Guess what, you will never go wrong……. ..no one is born a great cook, one learns by doing. But I should say, all my cooking talents came from my mom. She is in her 60's now and she still is never tired of cooking and exploring new items in kitchen.Life is so endlessly delicious. Enjoy!!
