Preparation time would be 20 to 30 minutes approx . I have added coconut pieces as it adds to the flavor and taste . You can avoid it if you don't feel it necessary . Ingredients

  • Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 tablespoonJeera -
  • 2 or 3Chillies Red -
  • Asafoetida - little
  • 25 - 50 gramsGinger - between
  • 5Green Chillies -
  • 2 cupsCurd -
  • 2Tomato - - chopped into small cubes
  • 2Potato - - cut in to small cubes
  • 4Coconut small - - pieces chopped into tiny pieces .
  • 2 tablespoonsBasin -
  • Oil - as per your   tempering usage
  • Coriander Leaves - for garnishing
  • Salt - Swaad anusaar
  • one small pinchHaldi Turmeric / Powder -

Steps

  1. 1

    First make a fine paste of  ginger & green chillies.

  2. 2

    Skim the curd and dilute it with water. Add basin, salt and stir it well.

  3. 3

    Add the ginger & green chillies paste to the above diluted curd and mix it well

  4. 4

    Now heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, jeera, red chillies and asafoetida.

  5. 5

    Once the tempering is done, add potato and let it cook for a while.

  6. 6

    Once the potato is half cooked, add tomato pieces and close it with a lid and allow it to cook well. Keep mixing once in a while.

  7. 7

    Now, add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt as per your requirement and close the lid. Allow it to cook for a while and keep mixing it in between.

  8. 8

    Now once the potatoes and tomatoes are cooked properly, add the curd mix (please refer point no 2 and 3) and stir it well.

  9. 9

    Add the tiny pieces of coconut if you find it worth and allow it to boil for 5 minutes

  10. 10

    Add red chilli powder if necessary or else add coriander leaves and switch off the gas.

    Your dahi kadi is ready to be served.

I had this opportunity to discover few of these on my own when i reach late from office or have to start early and don't have the time to cook leisurely . Yeah , cooking is a stress buster to me :)
