Ingredients

15minutes
2 servings
  1. 3onions
  2. 1tomato sliced into small pieces
  3. 4 clovescrushed garlic & 1 pc of crushed ginger/1 tbsn of ground ginger it's readily available in grocery stores/supermarket
  4. 1/2 tablespooncardamon spice
  5. 1/4 tablespooncumin seeds spice
  6. 1and 1/2 tablespoon pilau masala
  7. Salt
  8. Cooking oil
  9. 4peeled and cut potatoes into halves (optional)
  10. Boiled meat ie beef and leave some soup in it like 1 and 1/2 cups
  11. 1and 1/2 cups of rice (make sure it's washed and set to dry 30mins before cooking)
  12. Always make sure all of the above is readily availble and prepared to use

    In a hot sufuria add oil and a quarter tablespoon of cumin seeds. Mix together into the hot oil and then add the onions.

    Cook until the onions are almost golden brown and at this point add the crushed garlic, ginger, cardamon, pilau masala. Control heat and let them cook for 3mins.

    Below is what you should have after step no. 2

    At this point, make sure your meat is readily boiled and leave some soup in it. Take out the meat, place it in a plate and set aside. Pour out your soup in a bowl.

    After step 3, add your thinly sliced tomato and let it cook on low heat until soft and easy to crush, add your potatoes and the meat.

    Mix thoroughly.

    Add your rice. Make sure it was washed and set aside for 30minutes or more to dry. Add salt to your taste, mix well and slow so that you don't break the rice.

    My rice was 1 cup and 1/2, so i needed 2 and 1/2 cups of water but since i had set aside some beef soup, that's what i used but if it's not enough you can always add water until your measurements are right.

    At this point, when you notice your rice has started to boil, make sure to reduce heat until low. You can taste to check if your salt is okay and afterwards cover and leave it to boil.

    After 10 to 15 mins, your rice should be ready :))

    You can serve with some kachumbari as per your liking.
