Flaky Pie Crust
Use this crust with savory or sweet pies and you will be happy both ways! The trick? Don't smother the dough... it needs space.
Flaky Pie Crust
Use this crust with savory or sweet pies and you will be happy both ways! The trick? Don't smother the dough... it needs space.
Steps
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt (I prefer to use a food processor).
- 2
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs (again - food processor is SUPER helpful here, but not required).
- 3
Stir in water slowly. Usually you should add about 1 tablespoon at a time, until mixture comes together and forms a ball.
- 4
Wrap dough ball in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- 5
Roll dough out to fit the pie dish you are using.
- 6
Press dough evenly into the bottom and sides of the GREASED pie plate.
