Ingredients

  1. 1 cupRajma (kidney beans) soaked in water over night
  2. 3/4 cupsaboot masoor dal (whole pink lentils) soaked in water over night
  3. 1 tbspfresh cream
  4. 2onions coarsely grind ed
  5. 1/2 tea spoonginger,garlic and green chili paste
  6. 2tomato puree
  7. 1/2 tea spoonred chili powder
  8. 1/2 tea spoonturmeric powder
  9. 1/2 tea spoongaram masala
  10. 1 tea spooncoriander powder
  11. to tastesalt
  12. 2 tbspghee//butter
  13. 1/2 tea spooncumin seeds
  14. 2bay leaves
  15. pinchasafoetida

Steps

  1. 1

    Cook the rajma and masoor dal in pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles.

  2. 2

    Heat ghee in a pan.

  3. 3

    Add cumin seeds, when they crackle, add asafoetida and garlic paste, saute for 2 minutes, add onion paste and cook till the ghee is separated from the mixture.

  4. 4

    Add cream saute, add the cooked rajma and mix well.

  5. 5

    Cook on low flame for 8-10 minutes.

  6. 6

    Serve hot with rice and chapati.

  7. 7

    Add all the spices and salt to taste, saute, add tomato puree and cook till the ghee is separated from the mixture.
