This is my adaptation of a Pillsbury recipe I found on Pinterest (I added bacon and dijon).
I never tried their exact version, just went right into what changes I thought sounded good, so I can't say if this is better or worse. However, I can say we liked how it turned out. It surprisingly reminded me of a pretzel with cheese. Lol.

Ingredients

  1. 2 (8 oz)cans crescent dough sheets (or crescent rolls)
  2. 8 ozsliced cheddar cheese
  3. 6 ozsliced American cheese
  4. 6 slicesthick cut bacon - cooked and crumbled
  5. 2 tbsbutter - melted
  6. 1 tspdijon mustard
  7. 1/2 tspgarlic powder (optional)
  8. 1/4 cupgrated parmesan (optional)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 375°F. Brush half of the melted butter in a roughly 12x8 inch rectangle on a large foil lined baking sheet. Mix the dijon and (optional) garlic powder with remaining butter. Set aside.

  2. 2

Roll out your first crescent sheet over the buttered area (if using crescent rolls, pinch seams together to prevent leaking).

  3. 3

Layer cheddar cheese slices on crescent sheet, leaving 1/2 inch border around all edges. Sprinkle bacon evenly over cheddar. Layer American cheese on top of bacon.

  4. 4

Roll out second sheet over the top of filling. Seal edges all the way around (I crimped mine with a fork). Brush top with remaining butter mixture. Sprinkle with parmesan if desired.

  5. 5

Bake 15-20 minutes or until top is golden and crispy. Let cool 5 minutes. Cut into 8 triangles. Serve in place of grilled cheese with your favorite soup. Enjoy!

  6. 6

Can also be cut into 16-24 smaller pieces to be used as an appetizer for holiday or gameday parties, tailgates, potlucks, any old get together really!

Cooking is a hobby and a passion of mine. I love cooking and trying new and different things. The best thing about cooking? I get to prepare delicious food for my family and friends that they (almost) always love! Lol.Many of my recipes are experiments in what I could make with what was available at the time. Many are simply my version of classic and/or popular dishes. A few are variations of recipes I have found elsewhere online but adjusted to our tastes. No matter what, though, each of my recipes is tried and tested before posting and I hope you find as much joy in preparing them as I do.
