Originating in the Brown Hotel in Louisville Kentucky this open face sandwich makes a cheesy, melty, delicious lunch. This is one of my wifes favorite, so I'm working on perfecting this one, will update as i change things up.

Originating in the Brown Hotel in Louisville Kentucky this open face sandwich makes a cheesy, melty, delicious lunch. This is one of my wifes favorite, so I'm working on perfecting this one, will update as i change things up.

Ingredients

15-20 min
2 servings
  1. 2 ozwhole butter
  2. 2 ozall purpose flour
  3. 12 ozheavy cream
  4. 1/4 cupfinely shredded cheddar (1/4 cup more for sprinkling)
  5. 14 ozsliced turkey breast
  6. 6-8 slicesbacon
  7. 2 slicesbread
  8. 4 slicestomato
  9. to tastePaprika salt and pepper

Cooking Instructions

15-20 min

    In a saucepan melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux, cook on medium low for 2 min stirring frequently.

    Add heavy cream and whisk untill the cream starts to simmer. Remove from heat and add cheese stir untill smooth, add salt and pepper to taste.

    Toast bread and place in a baking dish. Top each with 7 oz of turkey, add slices of tomato and cover with the sauce. Sprinkle with more cheddar and place under the broiler untill cheese is brown and bubbly.

    Cover with crispy bacon pieces and sprinkle with paprika and parsley or green onion, Serve hot.

    The original recipe calls for Gruyere cheese, because this is not easy to find in my area i used shredded cheddar. I plan on using parmesan or a white cheddar next time i make it.
