I picked this trick up pretty recently with the caramelized onion. Immediately became my new spaghetti jam. Lots of butter, but well worth it.

Ingredients

  1. 1 stickButter
  2. 1 mediumYellow Onion
  3. 24 ozCanned tomatoes
  4. 1 tbspVinegar
  5. 1/2 boxSpaghetti
  6. 1salt and pepper

Cooking Instructions

    Slice onion finely.

    Heat onion gently with butter in a sauce pot until just beginning to caramelize.

    Add diced tomato. Simmer gently for about 15 minutes.

    Add vinegar to marinara. Continue simmering.

  6. 6

    When the pasta is nearly cooked to your liking, strain it and transfer into the sauce.

    Continue cooking pasta gently in sauce, just until done.

    Season, serve and consume. I tossed some arugula and olive oil on mine, but that's all just decoration really.
