Put everything in a large pot except cranberries. Bring to a simmer. Stir frequently. Once sugars are disolved let simmer for 12minutes. Strain into a large bowl. Should measure a bit under 2 cups.

Pour strained liquid back into pot. Add cranberries. They will begin popping like popcorn. Pour the remaining Zinfandel into a wine glass and enjoy while stirring the cranberries occasionally. After 25 or so minutes turn off burner and let cool.
