Steps

Clean, wash and soak the urad dal for 4 – 6 hours.

Grind them to a coarse thick paste with salt by a wet grinder.

Make single string consistency syrup with sugar or grated jaggey and water.Add cardamom powder to the syrup.

Take lemon size urad dal paste, flatten it and make a hole at the center with a finger.

Drop slowly it into the heated oil and maka a batch of batter garelu.

Fry them well on both sides till they get golden brown colour.

Remove them with a strainer and dip them in the sugar or jaggery syrup for five minutes.

Remove them from syurp with a strainer and transfer them to a plate.Now sweet garelu or sweet vadalu are ready to serve.
