Cooking Instructions

**** baking dish should measure 15x10x1....

preheat oven to.350°

in a large bowl cream sugar, butter, & salt...add eggs one at a time and mix in thoroughly .. beat in extract. gradually add flour.

............add 3 cups BATTER into the baking dish ... spread out. spread pie filling on top of batter..

drop remaining batter on pie filling. like dumplings... bake for 30-35 minutes... should be golden brown. cool on wire rack completely...

FOR GLAZE

in bowl mix powdered sugar, extract, and milk .. you may not need all the milk add a little at a time... until its a consistency you like ...

drizzle over bars...

This was a "Homemade Rhubarb Bar" recipe from BromaBakery.com that recommends to "Use room temperature ingredients — When making the cream cheese shortbread base, you need to let the butter and cream cheese come to room temperature before creaming them together. This will make the shortbread crust easier to mix and will give it a much better texture." And to "Chill the rhubarb bars — Just like lemon bars, these rhubarb bars need to cool completely in the fridge before you can cut into them. These bars need time to set properly, sorry to make you wait!" I used home grown fresh rhubarb stalks from our own backyard that I personally picked myself. We are all always hunting for that elusive beast, "the perfect chocolate chip cookie". I'm not going to tell you this recipe is perfect by any means, and as it's written it's "cookie bars", not straight up cookies - although I do have a note at the end for the option of making cookies. I make bars because as a busy mom spreading my dough out in a cake pan and throwing it into the oven is faster than making batch after batch of individual cookies, waiting for my cookie sheets to cool between each batch, and lugging the dough in and out of the fridge to ensure the cookies don't spread ridiculously.What I WILL tell you is that this recipe is my own compilation of my favorite aspects of a variety of cookie recipes I've tried over the years, and we think it's delicious.
