One of the perks of being Australian; our sausage rolls. So yummy, although they can't beat our good ole meat pies with sauce!

Ingredients

  1. 500 gramssausage mince
  2. 2eggs
  3. 1 eachsmall to medium finely grated carrot and zucchini
  4. 1brown onion finely diced or grated
  5. 1 tbspmixed herbs
  6. 1 1/2 cupkrummies multigrain bread crumbs
  7. 2 tbspheaped bbq sauce
  8. 3sheets puff pastry, thawed slightly

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Crack 1 egg into a bowl and whisk with a pinch of salt to make an egg wash. Set aside

  2. 2

Preheat oven to 200°c (180 for a fan forced oven). In a large bowl, add sausage mince, veggies, the other egg, krummies and BBQ sauce

  3. 3

    Mix well with clean hands

  4. 4

Cut each pastry sheet in half lengthwise. Brush all of the edges with a little of the egg. Divide the filling between each pastry sheet, spooning it along the top edge of each halved sheet

  5. 5

Roll up each strip to make a sausage shape, only without pinching in the ends. Leave them open

  6. 6

Cut each sheet into six pieces, whisk egg wash again and brush tops with it. This will give the pastry a rich golden colour

  7. 7

Place onto lightly greased baking trays and bake for 15 to 20 mins, until golden. Serve with tomato sauce or ketchup if unavailable
