Ingredients

8 servings
  1. 1 tbspolive oil
  2. 1 largeonion, diced finely
  3. 6 clovecrushed garlic
  4. 1 largecarrot, peeled and finely grated
  5. 2celery ribs, finely diced
  6. 1 cupred wine
  7. 1 lbsmall portabella mushrooms, cleaned and cut into quarters
  8. 2 lbground turkey
  9. 3 tbspWorcestershire sauce
  10. 1 1/2 tbspsteak seasoning (I use Penzey's or Mc Cormick)
  11. 1 1/2 tspgarlic salt (or 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic)
  12. 2(14 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, or 2 pounds fresh tomatoes diced and seeded

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat the oil in a medium pot over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add the onion and cook until soft.

  3. 3

    Add the garlic and cook for about 2 minutes, until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Add the celery and carrot and cook until tender, about 7 to 10 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add the wine, mushrooms and tomatoes.

  6. 6

    Bring to a simmer.

  7. 7

    Cover and continue to cook.

  8. 8

    In a pan, cook the turkey, sprinkling it with steak seasoning and garlic salt, breaking it up into small pieces.

    Drain well.

  10. 10

    Add the Worcestershire sauce and stir.

  11. 11

    Add the meat to the sauce and simmer for another 30 minutes.

  12. 12

    Serve with whatever pasta you prefer and Parmesan cheese.

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.
