slice onions into thin strips and then set aside

sweat onions by cooking then with oil in a pan until they release some of their moisture and are slitly translucent

add teriyaki sauce, sugar and dashi to the pan and bring the mixture to a slow boil

once the sauce is simmering add meat and cook for 5 minutes

serve atop a bowl of steamed rice
