Steps
- 1
In a bowl, mix together the walnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside.
- 2
Butter a baking pan and layer 3 sheets of phyllo dough on the bottom. Sprinkle some of the walnut filling over the phyllo.
- 3
Continue layering 2 sheets of phyllo, then more filling. Repeat, adding filling every 2 sheets, and finish with 3 sheets of phyllo on top.
- 4
Cut the baklava into your desired shapes.
- 5
Pour the melted butter over the cuts.
- 6
Bake at 350°F (180°C) until golden, then reduce the temperature to 250°F (120°C) and bake for about 4 hours.
- 7
Prepare the syrup first so it can cool. Boil the sugar, water, orange, cinnamon sticks, and cloves for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the honey, lemon juice, and orange zest.
- 8
Pour the cooled syrup over the hot baklava.
- 9
Enjoy the result!
