Ingredients

  • 1large bramley apple
  • 1 1/2 tbspdark brown muscovado sugar
  • The juice of one large or two small oranges
  • 2.5 cmpiece of cinnamon bark
  • 5cloves

Steps

  1. 1

    Peel, core and cut into pieces the apple.

  2. 2

    Put in a small saucepan and squeeze the oranges into it.

  3. 3

    Add the sugar, cloves and cinnamon and simmer on the lowest flame you can manage; stirring occasionally, until the apple is soft. if it gets dry add a little cold water and bring back to heat.

  4. 4

    Mash to desired consistency.
