1 cupcrisco lard
2 cupbutter
2 3/4 cupsugar
3 cupflour sifted
1 tspvanilla flavor
1 cupmilk
2 tspbaking powder(optional)
5eggs

Steps

Preheat oven to 300°F.

cream butter, lard, sugar and vanilla together.

add one egg at a time. mix well.

add flour and milk alternately, ending with flour. Do not over mix.

Bake for 1 1/2 hour. cool on rack for at least 10 minutes before moving from pan.
