Homemade Butter

I wanted a fun Thanksgiving activity for my son, and to show him how butter is made. I wanted to make a memory with him that he can pass on to his children someday.

I wanted a fun Thanksgiving activity for my son, and to show him how butter is made. I wanted to make a memory with him that he can pass on to his children someday.
Steps
- 1
Pour ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Mix on medium/high for 10-20 minutes. The cream will turn into whipped cream and then start to break down. Just when you start to doubt yourself, keep going because the butter will start to clump together and on your mixer paddles.
- 2
Remove butter from paddles and bowl, place in a different bowl and kneed for 2 minutes.
- 3
Put butter in air tight container. Will last up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator and 6 months in the freezer.
- 4
1 quart will make 1 pound of butter.
- 5
You could also pour cream into a large jar, put the lid on, and shake. This takes up to 1 hour.
