This is a recipe from my very early childhood, it was taught to me by my grandmother and I have never forgotten it. And I have never gotten tired of this great autumn dessert.

This is a recipe from my very early childhood, it was taught to me by my grandmother and I have never forgotten it. And I have never gotten tired of this great autumn dessert.

Preheated oven to 375°F

Place apples on cookie sheet and bake 7-13 minutes or until soft and slightly mushy.

Remove from oven; while apples are still hot lightly Spread melted butter over apples (a basting brush works very well for this.)

Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over slices. Return to oven. Bake an additional 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Let cool 2-5 minutes. Top with carmel, nuts, and whipped cream.(topping optional) May also add 2 tablespoons nutmeg before second time baking.
