Cheap and easy to prepare. Serve with rice, bread or other grain/carb of your choice. If you can't find chole masala add an extra tsp of ground coriander, 2 tsp ground cumin, and 1 tsp mustard powder. Slow cooker requires saute function for best results.

  • 1 largeonion, chopped
  • 4 clovegarlic minced
  • 1/2 headcauliflower chopped
  • 1 cupfrozen peas
  • 2 mediumcarrots diced
  • 1thumb size ginger diced
  • 1 tspsalt
  • Spices
  • 1 tspchili powder
  • 1 tspground turmeric
  • 1 tbspChole masala
  • 1 tspground coriander seed
  • 1 tspgaram masala
  • 1 pinchhing (asafoetida)
  • Proteins
  • 2 canchickpeas (or 1 cup dried and prepared)
  • 1 canlentils (or 1/2 cup dried and prepared)
  • Sauce
  • 1 cancoconut cream (400mL)
  • 140 gramstomato paste
  • Tempering
  • 1/4 tsphing
  • 1 tspcumin seed
  • 1 tspmustard seed
  • 10curry leaves
  • 2 tbspghee

Steps

  1. 1

    Saute vegetables in slow cooker with lid on for first 5min. Take lid off and stop when cabbage has wilted down.

  2. 2

    Add proteins, spices and sauce ingredients to slow cooker. Cook hi for 4 hrs.

  3. 3

    In a small pan heat ghee on medium high heat. Add remaining tempering ingredients and heat with stirring for about 2 min/until very fragrant. Add to slow cooker.
