This is truly a Cookpad Community effort! Without the help of Tinklee and Tom, I would have just dehydrated red jalapenos and called them chipolte peppers. Many Thanks to Both of You!

This is truly a Cookpad Community effort! Without the help of Tinklee and Tom, I would have just dehydrated red jalapenos and called them chipolte peppers. Many Thanks to Both of You!
Steps

In a clean smoker add wood and temp to 175°F
- 2
Wearing gloves cut jalapeno peppers in half (I removed seeds in half) place on broiler pans.

Place peppers in smoker and let smoke for 12-16 hours maintaining the 175 temperature.

Remove peppers from smoker (they should be bendable) transfer to dehydrator trays.Dehydrate for 30 hours.

Rotate dehydrator trays from top to bottom every few hours.When done peppers will be hard.

Store peppers in air tight containers.
