Ingredients

  1. For the soutzoukakia:
  2. 1 1/2 lbsground beef (about 700 grams)
  3. 1 3/4 cupsplain dry breadcrumbs (about 200 grams)
  4. 1little olive oil
  5. 2eggs
  6. 4 teaspoonsground cumin
  7. 1little dried oregano
  8. 1 tablespoondried mint
  9. Salt and pepper
  10. 2garlic cloves, minced
  11. 2onions, grated
  12. All-purpose flour
  13. Vegetable oil for frying
  14. For the sauce:
  15. 1onion, finely chopped
  16. 1little garlic powder
  17. 3tomatoes, grated
  18. 1 (14 oz)can tomato puree (such as Pummaro or any tomato puree)
  19. 1little olive oil
  20. 3whole allspice berries
  21. 2bay leaves
  22. 1cinnamon stick
  23. Salt and pepper
  24. 1/2 teaspoonground cumin
  25. 1 teaspoonsugar

Steps

    First, place all the ground beef ingredients in a large bowl, except for the flour and vegetable oil. Mix the ground beef very well until everything is combined. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

    Remove the ground beef mixture from the fridge and shape into oblong soutzoukakia, not too large. With these amounts, you’ll get about 30 pieces.

    Pour enough vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat until hot.

  4. 4

    Dredge the soutzoukakia in flour. Once the oil is hot, reduce to medium heat and add the soutzoukakia to the pan.

  5. 5

    Fry for about 7–8 minutes, turning to brown on both sides. You may need to increase the heat at the end to get a deeper color.

  6. 6

    Remove and place on a platter lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  7. 7

    Meanwhile, prepare the sauce: In a pot, heat olive oil and add the onion, garlic, and sugar. Cook until the onion is caramelized.

  8. 8

    Add the bay leaves, allspice, and cinnamon stick, then the grated tomatoes. Next, add the tomato puree, salt, pepper, and cumin.

    Before the sauce comes to a boil, add the soutzoukakia, cover, and cook over medium-high heat for about 15–20 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

    Your soutzoukakia are ready! Serve with basmati rice!

Καλησπέρα!!Ονομάζομαι Ανθη είμαι φιλόλογος και έχω μια μικρή κορούλα !!!Εκτός όμως απο την αγάπη μου για τα παιδιά εχω και άλλη μια!!!Τη μαγειρική!!!Έτσι στον ελευθερο χρόνο μου πειραματίζομαι με διάφορες συνταγές ,είτε γλυκές είτε αλμυρες!!!Αποφάσισα να τις μοιράζομαι μαζί σας και φυσικά να μαθαίνω και εγώ απο εσας!!!!Πάμε να μαγειρεψουμε!!!
