Ingredients

  • 2 lbBoneless Chicken
  • 1 eachEgg
  • 1 1/2 tspSalt
  • 1 1/2 tspPepper
  • 1 tspVegetable Oil
  • 1/2 cupCornstarch
  • 1/4 cupFlour
  • 2 tbspSoy Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cupWater
  • 3 tbspSugar
  • 3 1/2 tbspWhite Vinegar
  • 1Zest of Orange
  • 1 1/2 tbspCorn Starch
  • 1 tbspMinced Ginger Root
  • 1 tspMinced Garlic
  • 1/4 tspCrushed Hot Red Chili Pepper
  • 1/4 cupChopped Green Onion
  • 1/4 cupOrange Juice

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut chicken into bite size pieces

  2. 2

    In a large bowl, stir eggs, salt, pepper and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Add chicken pieces to mix and stir so that they're coated.

  4. 4

    In another bowl, mix corn starch and flour.
    Mix chicken in dry mix.

  5. 5

    Pour oil into skillet or wok so that it's deep enough to just cover chicken pieces.
    Fry chicken and set aside on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Mix soy sauce, water, sugar, white vinegar and zest of orange in something. You will use this orange sauce later. Set aside for now.

  7. 7

    Add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil to another skillet.

  8. 8

    Add ginger and garlic. Stir fry for close to 10 seconds until fragrant.

  9. 9

    Add and stir fry crushed chilies and green onions.

  10. 10

    Add orange juice and stir for 5 seconds.

  11. 11

    Add previously mixed sauce and bring to boil.

  12. 12

    Add cooked chicken and stir until all the chicken is coated.

  13. 13

    Mix cornstarch and a little water until it's smooth and add slowly to the stir fry so sauce slightly thickens.

    Heat until sauce is thickened.
