Ingredients

8 servings
  1. 3 tbspolive oil
  2. 1 cupfinely chopped onions
  3. 1 clovegarlic crushed
  4. 1 lbground beef
  5. 2 tspsalt
  6. 1 can1 pound 14 oz. can tomatoes
  7. 8 ozcan tomato sauce
  8. 6 ozcan tomato paste
  9. 3/4 cupwater
  10. 1/2 tspbasil
  11. 1/2 tsporegano
  12. 1 tspsugar
  13. 1 tbspdried parsley flakes
  14. 1 packageslasagna noodles
  15. 1 lbricotta cheese
  16. 1egg
  17. 1 lbmozzarella cheese slices
  18. 1 cupgrated parmesan cheese

Steps

  1. 1

    heat 2 tbs. oil in skillet and saute onions and garlic

  2. 2

    stir in beef and cook over medium heat until browned

  3. 3

    add salt, tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, basil, oregano, sugar and parsley flakes

  4. 4

    bring sauce to boil and simmer 45 minutes

  5. 5

    meanwhile cook lasagna according to package directions

  6. 6

    add remaining oil to water while cooking lasagna

  7. 7

    drain lasagna when done and rinse to cool

  8. 8

    in bowl, blend ricotta cheese and egg

  9. 9

    in pan alternate layers of sauce, lasagna, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella finishing with sauce

  10. 10

    sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese

  11. 11

    375 degrees for 35 minutes

  12. 12

    let stand 10 minutes before serving
