I have learnt the preparation of this tasty dal from my mother in law. Goes well with rice , chapati, poori, dosa etc.
Steps

Wash and cook tur dal along with pinch of turmeric and few oil drops

Pressure cook the dal till one whistle and simmer for ten minutes till is cooked very soft

Heat oil add mustard seeds, jeera, garlic pods crushed with jeera and pinch of turmeric
- 4
Add the cooked dal and sufficient water and allow it to boil. Add chilli powder, salt and masala Dhaniya powder and allow to boil (see my relative post for preparation of masala Dhaniya powder)

Put off the flame and add ghee.
