Place lentils in pot and add 2 cups water. Boil on medium high for 5 minutes

Dice potatoes to 1/2 inch cubes and add to the lentils. Add salt and oil. Cover and leave for 15 minutes stirring occasionally on medium heat.

Add tomatoes, onions and garlic and add the rest of the water to the mixture. Stir and let simmer medium low for 20 minutes ( add curry powder and any other spice you would like)

After 10 minutes add 1 tablespoon tomato paste stir cover and let simmer.

Cut up basil leaves and toss into you concoction. Stir. Keep on heat for as long as you want depending on your preference for thickness.
