Beef tacos using homemade tortillas

Beef tacos using homemade tortillas
Steps
- 1
Mix the the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- 2
Add your shortening, (I used Kimbo). Mix it well in to the flour
- 3
Add your hot water into the flour mixture
- 4
Knead your dough till it is soft and supple. Note: Do not add more flour to the dough as this will make the tortillas hard.
- 5
Once you have knead your dough, this takes about 15 minutes. Allow it to rest for 20 mins
- 6
As your dough is resting you can start on your beef.
- 7
In a pan add your onions, garlic, and green bell pepper. Allow them to cook for a few minutes.
- 8
Add your minced beef into the pan, add the spices and allow to cook through.
- 9
Once cooked, let it rest and continue with the tortillas.
- 10
Divide your tortilla dough into small balls.(My dough gave me 8 small balls)
- 11
Roll the balls out.(Like you do with chapati☺) Ensure you roll them out thin.
- 12
In a hot iron cast, cook them one by one and place the in a container and cover them.
- 13
Once you are done. You can now start layering your tacos, starting with the minced beef, then your kachumbari and lastly your avocado and coriander for garnish, as shown in the picture.
- 14
Hope you try the recipe and love it. Feel free to add more spices in your meat as you please. You can use any kind of meat from beef, lamb, chicken and fish. Enjoy☺
