Ingredients

  1. 1 litrefull fat milk 1 cup rice 2 tablespoon ghee 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder (optional) 3/4 cup jaggery
  2. 1 tablespoonchopped almonds 1 tablespoon chopped cashew nuts 1 tablespoon chopped pistachio and About 20 raisins

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash rice and soak for at least 1/2 an hour.

    In a mixture coarsely grind the rice.

    In a pan add ghee and roast dry fruits - almonds, cashew nuts, pistachio and raisins.
    Once the nuts are roasted add the coarsely ground rice. Stir rice for a minute or so until ghee is coated. Add milk and let the rice simmer and allow the rice to be cooked. Keep stirring rice.

    In a pan add jaggery and half cup water and bring it to boil

    Once rice is half cooked, add jaggery water and continue cooking.Cook until rasiya thickens. Add cardamom powder, ginger powder and dry fruits.

    Garnish with nuts and saffron.

Hi all, my name is Rekha. I am Indian by birth, born in Uganda, East Africa, I now live in Wilby, Northamptonshire/England.I retired at the age of 60 due to severe arthritis. I am married, a mother and grandmother.I learnt to cook from my parents at a very young age of seven. I started to cook simple dishes for the family and gradually learnt how to cook. My mum use to cook at our shop where we sold Indian sweets and savouries. I have learnt a lot from my mum. I started cooking fusion dishes and learning from others. My strong point is making sweet dishes and innovating new dishes. I can improvise and be creative in leftover dishes.I love being on Cookpad because I can share and learn new recipes. I have also made a lot of friends.
