Steps
- 1
Ingredients and equipment needed.
- 2
Rinse the sticky rice thoroughly and drain well.
- 3
In a pot, heat the coconut milk over medium heat until it just starts to boil. Add the salt and sugar. Stir in the sticky rice and cook, stirring constantly, until the coconut milk is absorbed and the rice forms a sticky mass that doesn't stick to the pot.
- 4
After this step, the sticky rice should look like this.
- 5
Take the cooked sticky rice and wrap it around the bananas.
- 6
Once wrapped, they should look like this.
- 7
Pair up parcels of similar size and tie them together with kitchen twine.
- 8
Fill a large pot with water and bring to a simmer. Add the tied parcels and boil for about 1 hour, until the water is mostly absorbed. The Khao Tom Mud is now ready to eat.
- 9
Once unwrapped, they look like this and are ready to enjoy.
