Crispy baked wings

Margie

I've been hungry for crispy wings lately but the fried version is such a mess and really not all that healthy... So I did some research and found a recipe that claims adding baking powder to the flour adds taste and crispness so I figured I'd give it a shot. I personally like adding a lot of spices to my chicken and then covering it and letting it sit in the fridge overnight it really gives it a much better flavor! so you can add more or less of all the spices. FYI for fried wings I salt them in the same way so if you want good fried ones just dip them in egg wash and then flour and fry away.

Steps

  1. 1

Wash the wings, you can separate them or leave them whole as I did, leave the skin on!

  2. 2

Pat them dry and add them into a bowl and add everything except for the flour and baking powder.

  3. 3

Cover the wings with plastic wrap and let marinate overnight or if your in a hurry you can skip this step, but I'd say it was better to let them marinate

  4. 4

    Preheat oven to 375°

  5. 5

Mix flour and baking powder in a bowl or plate

  6. 6

Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray or oil in with oil.

  7. 7

Dip the wings in the flour mixture and add onto the aluminum foil, bake for 1 hour if they're big wings, if they're smaller then reduce baking time.

  8. 8

Turn the chicken after 30 minutes, and make the oven hotter to 400°, serve when nice and crispy! Enjoy!

As a kid I told my teacher I'd grow up to be a chef, well that didn't happen but I'm a chef in my own kitchen and that's great.
