I’ve always wanted to try making my own custard. This was my very first attempt and I must say the results were worth it. It was delish😋😋😋

Steps
- 1
In a heat resistant or metal bowl whisk the egg yolks with the sugar
- 2
In a pot heat the milk and vanilla essence ensuring it does not boil.
- 3
Pour the hot milk a little at a time over the egg yolks whisking vigorously.
- 4
Make a double boiler by placing the bowl over a pot of boiling water(bottom of bowl must not touch the water in the pot)
- 5
Stir over gentle heat until the mixture thickens sufficiently to coat the back of a spoon. This will take +- 15 mins. Be patient and don’t over heat otherwise the mixture will curdle
- 6
If you want a thicker custard you can add 1 more egg yolk or make a paste with a teaspoon of Maine a (corn flour). Serve warm or cold. Enjoy
