My son is graduating to Grade 1. They will have a graduation ceremony. He is so excited about it. It's the only song he sings about in the house. The school is providing a cake for them but he insisted on another cake at home so that he could share with his other friends. I had to make it happen with the ingredients i had in the kitchen at that moment. The turn-out was ok.

Cut your butter into cubes and cream it. I used a whisk,

Add the vanilla essence and whisk more until you achieve a pale colour.

Using a whisk takes time and energy. You should be ready for that. Alternatively if you have a hand mixer, the better. It takes shorter time.

Add the icing sugar litttle by little. I did 100g at a time. Whisk until well combined.

Add your desired colour and whisk until the colour is even.

The buttercream is ready to use.

For piping, i add alittle more icing sugar to get a nice consistency for good piping.
