Tahu Bakso (Tofu and Meatballs)

Basically you just combine those two and fry it (you can also steam it). I once had a delicious tahu bakso in another city and I wanted some, but couldn't find a similar one in my city. I use Indonesian tofu but you can use any firm tofu. Just adjust the size to your liking.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
I use Indonesian tofu. It's sometimes soaked in turmeric so the color is yellow. I think this one is tastier, but you can use any kind of firm tofu. Pat dry the tofu with tissue paper or towel.
- 2
Slice the tofu into triangles. Adjust the size to your preference.
- 3
Carefully make a hole in the tofu.
- 4
In the mean time, mix ground beef and other ingredients (except oil) and knead it for a couple of minutes. Add the small part of tofu from step 3 into this and mix well.
- 5
Take some meat mixture and carefully insert some to the tofu, making sure the meat is firm enough.
- 6
Fry in hot oil and flip after the tofu has turned golden brown. Traditionally, we eat this with bird's eye chili but this time I used a mixture of mayo, hot sauce, a bit sugar, and lime.

Bakso (meat balls) Bakso (meat balls)
Bakso is the number one street food in Indonesia. On every corner of the country you will find it being sold in different ways: in eating-in stalls, on the street stalls, and even door to door using a moving cart. When I moved to the Netherlands and couldn't find it as easy as in Indonesia, I became obsessed with finding the right technique to create the perfect balance of the structure that Indonesian baksos have. The meat balls have to be chewy but also tender at every bite. After some experiments and internet research, I found that the secret is pretty simple: chicken should be used in the meat mix. Many vendors sell these here, but of course it is healthier to make them on your own. Bear in mind that they will shrink a bit after frying, so they won't be completely round. Still tasty. We enjoy these with homemade mayo and a touch of chili sauce. You can make bigger or smaller meatballs. I made medium ones, about 1.5 cm in diameter. They will get bigger after you fry them. We love meatballs but I am always wary buying the packaged meatballs. It is healthier and of course cheaper to make them on your own. I like to store the mixture in the fridge for at least an hour so the meatballs will be firmer, but you can cook them right away if you like. Angela Mertoyono -
Easy Tofu and Ground Meat Fried Meatballs Easy Tofu and Ground Meat Fried Meatballs
I love recipes that use ground meat so I'm always thinking of different recipes.-It's much easier if you add a little oil to the spoon when dropping the meatballs into the oil.-It's fine to eat as is because there is already a lot of flavor. However, you can also add ketchup or mustard according to your preference. Recipe by Komomomomo cookpad.japan -
