Ingredients

  • 1large egg
  • 1 tablespoonclarified butter/ghee/unsalted normal butter
  • 1 piecewhole green cardamom slightly crushed
  • 150millilitres of plain milk
  • 2 tablespoongranulated sugar/maple syrup
  • 1 pinchsaffron strands(optional, not necessary)
  • 1 tablespoonmixed sliced nuts/ powdered nuts

Steps

    Whisk the egg well in a large bowl

  2. 2

    Once done, all the ingredients into the bowl, except saffron

  3. 3

    Whisk well once again while you set a non stick pan/ a deep heavy bottom saucepan to heat

  4. 4

    Once all the ingredients are well combined, add the mix into the saucepan

  5. 5

    Keep mixing constantly on medium heat initially

  6. 6

    Add the saffron and powdered nuts (if using) at this stage

  7. 7

    As the porridge gets thicker, reduce heat and keep cooking to desired consistency on Low heat

  8. 8

    Take off heat once a scrambled egg kinda consistency is reached

  9. 9

    Discard the cardamom piece and transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with sliced nuts

  10. 10

    Tip:Infants/babies can have this porridge a little liquidy after cooking completely, while toddlers can have it slightly thicker and warm

  11. 11

    Tip: this porridge is an excellent way to introduce solid food to babies along with purees.

  12. 12

    Tip: for more than 1 kid, increase the amount of eggs, milk and sugar

  13. 13

    Tip: add nuts only if you are certain your baby is not allergic to any
