So I tried these out many, many years ago. I named them YUCK cookies because I didn't like them. I believe my palate was not ready for this blend of flavors. I'll let you be the judge! 😄 Go try them!

So I tried these out many, many years ago. I named them YUCK cookies because I didn't like them. I believe my palate was not ready for this blend of flavors. I'll let you be the judge! 😄 Go try them!

Turn oven to 180 degrees. Sift the flour, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, baking powder, and baking soda together. Set aside. (For a stronger flavor, double the ginger, cinnamon and cloves)

In a medium mixing bowl cream the shortening and sugar together.

And the egg and molasses and beat well.

Add dry ingredients and water.

Drop by tablespoons onto a greased baking pan. (I used my spoon and gave them a swirl. I made them too big.) Space them out well. They spread as they bake. Bake at 180 for 6-8 minutes for a chewy consistency. Keep checking for doneness from the 5 minute mark. Bake longer for firmer cookies. Dust with icing sugar when cool and enjoy!
