Ingredients

  1. For Dough
  2. 1 cupwheat flour
  3. 2 tbsprefined flour
  4. 1 tspsalt
  5. water to knead a dough
  6. 2-3 tspclarified butter(ghee)
  7. For stuffing
  8. 1 cupsesame seeds (til) roasted on low to medium flame
  9. 1 tbsppeanuts roasted on low to medium flame
  10. 1 tbspdesiccated coconut roasted on low to medium flame
  11. 1/4 cuppowdered jaggery
  12. 2 tspcardamon powder
  13. 2 tspsaffron

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix dough ingredients together except water.

  2. 2

    Start putting water and kneading little by little.

  3. 3

    Knead soft dough, put 2 to 3 tsp of ghee on the ready dough and let the dough rest for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Ground all the roasted ingredients to fine powder.

  5. 5

    Mix jaggery, cardamon powder and saffron in it. Mix well.

    Make equal size balls of the dough and the same portion of the stuffing accordingly.

    Make a small cup with the dough balls.

    Fill one portion in it. Close the edges together.

    Make sure that the stuffing should not come out.

    Start rolling into a disc, not too thin or thick.

    Heat skillet(tawa), place Poli on it carefully, once you see white bubbles on top, flip it and cook evenly and apply ghee on both the side till you see brown spot on it.

    Serve with a dollop of ghee.
