In a heated saucepan, melt butter, then add the garlic and let cook for a minute

Put a tbsp of the chopped onionsand saute them

Add the potatoes and mix

Add salt, pepper and water to the potatoes and let it boil for 8-10 minutes

Using a potato masher, ensure all the potatoes in the saucepan are mashed properly, until you get a smooth mixture.

Add the milk and let it boil

Serve
