Ingredients

40 minutes
5 servings
  1. 2 cupsChickpeas boiled (Can use Canned Chickpeas)
  2. 2Red Onion, Finely Chopped
  3. 1/2 CupTomato Puree
  4. 2 TbspChanaMasala Powder
  5. 1 TeaspoonPomegranate Seeds
  6. 2 tspSalt or to taste
  7. 1 tspRed Chilli Powder or according to taste
  8. 3Green Chilies Deseeded And Slit
  9. 1/2 TspTamarind Paste
  10. 3 TbspOil
  11. 4Bay Leaves
  12. 3-4Black Cardamoms
  13. 1 TspAnardana Seeds
  14. Cloves5-6
  15. 1 TspDry Mango Powder
  16. 2 TbspKasuri Methi
  17. 5-6 PiecesGinger, Julienned
  18. 1 cupSteaming Hot Water
  19. 3Tea Bags
  20. 5-6Onion Rings

Steps

40 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat oil in a pan. Add bay leaves, black cardamom, and cloves to the oil.

  2. 2

    Sauté them for few seconds. Now add red onions, and sauté for 5 minutes or till they turn golden brown.

  3. 3

    Add tomato puree, salt, slit green chilies and red chilli powder. Mix well and cook covered for 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add chana masala powder, dried mango powder, anardana, sugar, tamarind paste and mix well.

  5. 5

    Remove tea bags and add water to the sauce. Mix well, and cook for 5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Add cooked chickpeas, kasuri methi, sliced ginger and mix well. Add some water if needed.Cook covered for 20 minutes on medium-low heat.

  7. 7

    Add sliced onions, and mix well. Remove from heat and cover for 5 minutes.

  8. 8

    Amritsari chole are ready. Serve with any of your flat bread and enjoy!
