Ingredients

15 mins
3 to 4 people
  1. 1.5 cupOkra(Chopped into 1 inch long pieces)
  2. 1.5 cupBrinjal(Chopped into cubes)
  3. 2Nos. Medium Size Tomatoes(Quartered)
  4. 3-4Green Chillies
  5. 1/2 cupToor Dal/Pigeon Peas
  6. 1/2 tspTurmeric Powder
  7. 1 tbspSambar Powder or 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  8. 2+ 1 tbsp Oil
  9. 1/2 tspMustard
  10. 1/2 tspCumin Seeds
  11. 1/4 tspAsafoetida Powder(Hing)
  12. A fewCurry Leaves
  13. 1.5 tspSalt

Steps

    Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pressure pan. Saute the okras on high flame for 5 mins.

  2. 2

    Add in the brinjals, tomatoes, green chillies, sambar powder and turmeric powder. Saute for a while.

  3. 3

    Now add in washed and drained toordal.

  4. 4

    Also put in 1.5 cup water.

  5. 5

    Pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles.

  6. 6

    Open. Mash with the back of a heavy ladle.

  7. 7

    Heat oil. Splutter the mustard. Add in the cumin seeds, hing and curry leaves.

  8. 8

    Now add this seasoning and salt to the mashed vegetables. Mix well.

  9. 9

    Offer Mashed Okra & Brinjal with Cooked Rice or Idli or Dosa to Lord Sri Krishna. Honor Krishna Prasadam.
