Chop the walnuts and almonds, then mix with vanilla extract, breadcrumbs, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg to make the filling.

Layer 4 sheets of phyllo dough in the bottom of a baking pan, brushing each sheet with butter or olive oil. Spread half of the filling over the phyllo. Add 2 more buttered sheets, spread the remaining filling, then cover with 4 more buttered sheets. Cut into strips and then into squares or diamond shapes.

In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, cinnamon stick, lemon juice, and orange liqueur or lemon liqueur. Bring to a boil and simmer until the syrup thickens.

Once the syrup has cooled slightly, pour it over the baklava.

Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 30 minutes, then finish with the syrup.
