Cooking Instructions
- 1
Warm the milk around 90 degrees. Pour the lukewarm milk in a big bowl and add the sugar, the butter and the yeast. Mix gently. Let rest for 10 minutes, so the yeast can begin its work.
- 2
Mix the flour and the salt in another bowl. Add this dry mixture to the liquid one.
- 3
Knead for 10 to 15 minutes with all your energy and your soul! You may add some extra flour if the dough is too sticky. It has to be nice and smooth but should not stick to the bowl.
- 4
Let the dough double its volume in a quiet place for 60 - 90 minutes.
- 5
Give a nice shape to the dough on a baking sheet: a breaded bred, a bunny, a heart shape, etc.
- 6
Let it pause another 30 minutes
- 7
Glaze it with the egg yolk.
- 8
Bake it in a pre-warmed oven at 415 degrees for 25 minutes.

Sunday Morning Milk Bread Sunday Morning Milk Bread
On weekdays we always eat rice and miso soup for breakfast, but on Sundays, when my husband isn't working, he always eats toast for breakfast. I used the bread maker to make the bread from scratch, too. My husband loves his scrambled egg toast so I wanted to introduce the recipe on Cookpad. The milk bread tastes so great because it contains a mixture of milk and skimmed milk powder. When baking the bread in the bread maker, add the egg mixture after it's been returned to room temperature. This will result in a smooth and fluffy loaf. You can make the scrambled eggs really quickly in the microwave and the grated cheese will lend it a nice kick!Toast to how you like. Bread in an Afternoon Bread in an Afternoon
I kept trying out no-knead recipes but they didn't work for me. I don't know why, still. And then came the day I was broke, no bread but I sure had plenty of bread flour! And yeast. I also had a bread recipe for a quick French bread, butt it required 3 1/2c of flour for 2 loaves of bread! I wanted a round loaf and quick results, with minimal kneading and pretty much what the no-knead recipes did: one pot convenience with a beautiful result! Can beggars be choosers?! I think they can! Try this recipe and let me know! It takes a total of 3 hrs, NO more!Iluminameluna

Dark Bread Dark Bread
A savory dark bread we used dipping into our chili. If you use vinegar in this recipe remember it's acidic. Acid counters yeast and hinder it's rising, but it also counters gluten and breaks it down and cause it to become very sticky and a bit harder to work with. It's a welcomed flavour to this bread. A couple of tablespoons of vinegar about 3% acidity would be nice. skunkmonkey101 -
