Mango Mochi Dumplings with Chocolate Filling

This recipe is made like traditional mochi dumplings, but I used whatever I had left in the fridge, like ripe mango, matcha chocolate, and dark chocolate. In the kitchen, anything is possible!

This recipe is made like traditional mochi dumplings, but I used whatever I had left in the fridge, like ripe mango, matcha chocolate, and dark chocolate. In the kitchen, anything is possible!

Peel the mango and cut the flesh away from the pit. Prepare the flour and sugar. Peel the ginger and slice thinly; cut a small amount into thin strips.

Blend the mango with the milk until smooth. Add the glutinous rice flour and mix until a dough forms. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.

If you have chocolate on hand, use it for the filling. Take about 3/4 ounce (20 grams) of dough, roll it into a ball, flatten it, place a piece of chocolate in the center, then fold and roll it back into a ball to seal.

Mix the sugar, water, and ginger in a pot and stir until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes to make the syrup.

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Drop the dumplings in and cook until they float to the surface. Remove the dumplings and add them to the ginger syrup. Bring to a boil again so the dumplings absorb the sweet flavor. Done!

Enjoy! The chocolate filling melts inside the soft, chewy dumpling, and the mango-flavored dough adds a unique twist. Delicious!
