Ingredients

  1. 1/4 kgOkras
  2. 4-5Sambhar Onions (Crushed)
  3. 3-4 clovesGarlic (Crushed)
  4. 2 tbspOil
  5. 1/2 tspMustard Seeds
  6. pinchAsafoetida
  7. 2-3Green Chillies (Halved)
  8. 1 sprigcurry leaves
  9. 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  10. 1/2 tspChilli Powder
  11. 1/4 tspPepper Powder
  12. 1/4 tspCumin Powder
  13. 1 tspKitchen King Masala
  14. 2 tspLemon Juice
  15. as required Salt

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash the okras nicely. Let it dry a bit. Cut into halves lengthwise and set aside.

  2. 2

    In a hand mixer chop the sambar onions and garlic and keep aside. You can also chop it finely in a chopper or you can crush it.

  3. 3

    Heat oil in a cooking pan. Add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle.

  4. 4

    Add asafoetida, green chillies and curry leaves and saute for a minute.

  5. 5

    Add the crushed onions and garlic and saute it lightly.

  6. 6

    Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder, cumin powder and kitchen king masala and salt and saute for a minute or two.

  7. 7

    Add the okras and stir fry for a minute. Cover and cook till the okras are cooked.

  8. 8

    Off the flame and add lemon juice and keep covered for about 5 minutes.

  9. 9

    Ready to serve.
