Peel, wash, cut and boil yam with a little salt until soft. Mash the yam, grind the onions and scotch bonnets.

Add the onions and scotch bonnets into a pan over low heat and stir fry for 4 minutes. Add in to the mashed yam add your seasoning and spices to taste add your sardine and break in an egg mix all the ingredients well until well incorporated.

Mould into balls and roll first in flour and then in whisked eggs and lastly in bread crumbs making sure it's well coated.

Add enough oil in a frying pan and deep fry until golden brown. You can serve it alone or with hot sauce or any dipping sauce of your choice. Some eat yamballs with yaji.

This is an easy recipe that can be used as breakfast or a light dinner it can also be served just as a snack.
