Fry sausages in a little oil for ten mins until brown all round. Add chopped bacon and fry in same pan. Then leave sausage and bacon to the side, pouring fat into large pot.

Fry onion in excess fat and a little oil in large pot, when onion begins to brown add crushed garlic. Cook for 2-3mins and then sprinkle on paprika and stir in.

Add chopped tomato, stock, tomato purée, the bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce and the rest of the herbs, stir in and bring to a simmer. Once simmering pour in red wine. Add sausage snd bacon then simmer for 30 mins, stirring now and then and season to taste.

Serve with potatoes or rice and bread.
