Tempe Kacang Manis Tempe Kacang Manis
Have you heard of "Tempe" before? It is a cake made of fermented soya beans. It is rich in protein and it tastes good, too. In Indonesia people usually deep fry it and it is a great add-on for whatever dish they are enjoying. When it is not a meal time, people would snack it, eat it with raw chili or with kecap manis sauce (sweet soya sauce).Basically tempe can be seen and treated as a substitute for flesh or chicken. It needs 10-15 minutes cooking time, although there is no harm in eating the "raw tempe", as the beans are perfectly cooked in the making process. This dish is called Tempe Manis Kacang (sweet tempe peanut). I created it to see if it was a success, and it was!If you are wondering which one is the tempe on my picture, it is on the top right, the brown ones. Berlian Utami -

Indonesian Tempe stir fry - Oseng tempe- Vegan Indonesian Tempe stir fry - Oseng tempe- Vegan
#MyCookbook#Week8I am proud to say, tempe (or tempeh) is originated from Indonesia. It is traditionally fermented soybean. The texture is firmer than Tofu. I can see more people now used this in their foods, and I am beyond happy (so is my husband who now prefer this than beef)!. I can see this being sold in Chinese supermarkets, frozen & fresh. I suggest you buy the original one (with no flavor) if possible. Here is one of my favorite way to enjoy Tempe. Give it a go, and hope you like it as much as we do. This dish taste quite sweet (from kecap manis), spicy, savoury with a hint of tamarind/lemon. We pair this with boil rice or Nasi uduk (coconut rice). You can make this savoury - don’t use kecap manis :)Note: you can either slice or mince the ingredients, I like to do half-half. FYI: my ingredient here is more than enough for 1 block of tempe (400gr)Bayleaves, kafir leaves and lemongrass is optional, it will however add the fragrant. I don't use lemongrass in this instance. We usually used quite a bit of oil. as it will add to the flavor, I will leave this up to you. Sweet Cabe -
Stir-fried Soy Tofu Sheets with Chili Peppers Stir-fried Soy Tofu Sheets with Chili Peppers
Soy tofu is a popular vegetarian ingredient made from soybeans. It’s low in fat and high in protein, making it a healthy choice. Packed with calcium and iron, it supports bone and heart health and helps regulate blood sugar, making it good for diabetics. Soy tofu is versatile and can be used in many dishes, like stir-fries and soups. A favorite dish is stir-fried soy tofu with chili peppers, especially popular in Northeast China, and it’s easy to make! Enjoy! Dandanyummyfood -
Thai Pineapple Fried Rice (KHAO PHAD SAPPAROT) Thai Pineapple Fried Rice (KHAO PHAD SAPPAROT)
This is a Thai dish which is rich in flavor, made with chunks of pineapple and coconut milk. Small pieces of sweet pineapple and juices from fresh meat give Pineapple Fried Rice a distinctive scent, who's doesn’t like ??? Moreover, it's served in a bowl of the pineapple itself which add extra points to this dish. This cuisine can be ordered easily at Thai restaurants, but it can also be made in your home kitchen. In cooking this dish, it’s better if you use fresh pineapple... because it tastes more delicious (sweet, crunchy, and slightly sour). But if it is difficult to get fresh pineapple, then you can use canned pineapple. For the meat, you can select according to taste --- beef, shrimp, chicken or other. To enrich the color, texture and taste, cashew nuts, raisins and peas can be added too. Don't forget the curry powder, which makes the rice a yellow tinge and the spicy taste is delicious. Finally, the addition of soy sauce and fish sauce gives a savory sense in this cuisine. In this recipe, I boiled meat (shrimp & squid) first before making and used Jack Bean because I forget about buying cashew when shopping ^_^.Here is the recipe THAI PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE by me... Stir-Fried Seaweed and Mushrooms Stir-Fried Seaweed and Mushrooms
Stir-fried seaweed has always been my favorite dish. When I started eating brown rice, I recognized how it works brilliantly with stir-fried seaweed, and so I've been cooking seaweed often. I used to season it with soy sauce, mirin, bonito flakes, etc., but then I started cooking macrobiotic dishes and so I reduced the seasoning to just soy sauce. Now my kids gobble up most of this and I only get a small amount. Maybe I should double the recipe from now on?Adjust the amount of soy sauce depending on how large your mushrooms are. (For your information, I used white Bunapi mushrooms.) I used olive oil but you can use your choice of oil. Sesame oil makes it really fragrant. Recipe by Yukiline cookpad.japan -

Sambal Goreng Kentang Tempe (Indonesian Potato and Tempeh in Spicy Chili Sauce) Sambal Goreng Kentang Tempe (Indonesian Potato and Tempeh in Spicy Chili Sauce)
‘Sambal Goreng’ is a traditional Indonesian dish which is made from chili peppers cooked with some other ingredients such as potatoes, tempeh, tofu, eggplants, green beans, etc. It’s quite different from ‘Sambal’ which refers to Indonesian chili sauce/paste which typically is made from a mixture of chili peppers with secondary ingredients such as shrimp paste, coconut sugar, lime juice, etc. and served as condiments. It’s savory, slightly sweet, and of course it’s spicy 🥵 Best served over warm white rice 🍚 By the way, you can always omit the ‘stinky beans’ part as they are really stinky. It may cause your breath to smell for a day or two 😁😅😂If you like my recipes, please follow me on my Instagram @jenscookingdiary @jenscookdineandtravel 🙏🏻😊😘 jenscookingdiary
