Green peas seekh kabab is a delicious and healthy Indian vegetarian kabab to be enjoyed as a starter at parties or as a teatime snack.Normally seekh kabab is made with minced meat. Vegetarian seekh kababs taste a bit different, but combined with aromatic spices and herbs, makes it all the more delicious and a perfect appetizer for vegetarians.These kababs here are grilled to perfection using steel or wooden skewers where a ball of the mashed mixture is rolled around the skewers and grilled on a grill pan.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupgreen peas
  2. 1potato boiled
  3. 1onion chopped finely
  4. 1.5 tspginger garlic paste
  5. 1green chilli paste
  6. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  7. 1 tspchaat masala
  8. 1/2 tspgaram masala
  9. 1 tsplemon juice
  10. 2 tbspgram flour
  11. 2 tbspbread crumbs
  12. 1/2 tspajwain (carom seeds)
  13. 1 tspkasoori methi
  14. 2 tbspcoriander chopped
  15. to tastesalt
  16. as neededoil

Cooking Instructions

    Boil and mash 1 potato.Grind coarsely green peas with green chilli and 1 tbsp chopped coriander.If needed sprinkle 1 tbsp water while grinding.

    Add gramflour to the ground green peas and mashed potato.Add all the rest dry ingredients,kasoori methi,breadcrumbs, and also chopped coriander,ginger garlic paste, salt and pinch of sugar to taste and lemon juice.Mix all and knead into a tight dough.Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add carom seeds.When they crackle,add the finely chopped onion and fry lightly.Add the mashed pulp to the frying onion and toss few minutes till completely dry and well mixed.Remove from heat and cool.

    Smear little oil on both hands.Divide dough into 7 to 8 balls approximately. Take a skewer,smear oil on it and roll one ball around it giving it a cylindrical shape.

    Heat a grill pan.Drizzle oil and when it is hot, place the sheekh kababs and grill it in batches, turning over to get evenly roasted on all sides.

    Serve hot as an appetizer or snack with sliced onion,lemon cubes and a dip of choice like green chutney or tamarind chutney.
