Ingredients

  1. 41/2(4.5)cup rice (I use sona masuri)
  2. 1 cupurad dal (spilt white urad dal)
  3. 1 spoonmethi dana (fenugreek seeds)
  4. 1/4 cuppoha (flatten rice)
  5. as per taste Salt
  6. 1/4 spoonbaking soda (optional)
  7. as required Cooking oil for greasing mould

Cooking Instructions

    In a big mixing bowl soak rice urad dal and fenugreek seeds for 6-8hours (you can soak seprate too rice n urad dal along with fenugreek seeds)

    Rinse them for couple a time and soak in water.
    In a separate bowl take thick poha rinse with water drain add to the bowl countaining with rice dal fenugreek seeds water mix and cover then soak for 6-8 hours.

    Now add half of the soak ingredients in wet grinder jar ground in batches add liter water when grind smooth paste. Now pour batter in large bowl add salt mix well the batter with hands. Cover bowl with lid keep bowl for fermation batter for 8-9 hours.

    Depend on weather or temperature put it in warm place. Check the countency. Add some water add baking powder mix well.

    Now grease the idli mould with oil pour batter in greasing moulds. Add 2-2.5 cup water in steamer bring it boil place idli stand in hot water cover lid and steam for 12-15 min. (it may take less or more time). Allow time to cool little then unmould the idlies.

    Your soft fluffy idlies are ready.
    Serve with coconut onion chutney or samber.
